Notes for Johann Schambach
Born 09 Mar 1615 at Bad hersfeld, Johann was probably the son of Jacob/Jaeckel Schambach. Johann Schampach was a Musketeer from Blankenheim 1637 during Thirty Years War. Hesse-Nassau was allied to Sweden, therefore he served in the Army of King Gustavus Adolphus. YDNA Haplotype 25 Marker Results of descendents of two of the sons of Johann Schambach reveal his profle to be:
13-24-14-10-11-14-13-12-12-13-13-28-18-9-9-11-11-25/26-15-19-30-17-17-17-17
It places him as part of the Clan Oisin YDNA grouping (so named for an Irish mythological hero) and he falls within the R1bSTR47 Scots cluster. This indicates an origin in Scotland. Engineer Herbert Schambach of Worms stated that the Schambachs were present very early in East Germany and that most of them apparently originated in Erfurt which is located between Saxe-Weimar and Saxe-Coburg-Gotha but belonged to the Prince-Bishopric of Mainz. He believed that the Schambachs of Blankenheim also originated in Erfurt, which was the site of a Scottish Monastery maintained by Scottish and Irish Monks dating to the early 11th century at which time Monks of the Celtic Church were not celibate.
