Frederick Schambeck enlisted as a Captain in the Civil War 7/3/1861. He was commissioned in Company C, Thieleman's Cavalry Illinois. Promoted to Full Major 4/17/1863. Transferred to Company S, 16th Cavalry Illinois 6/11/1863. Killed while in Company S 8/3/1864.
