Torrence enlisted in the military service of the United States, at Springfield Sangamon Co., Ill. on the 23rd day of November 1862 as a Private in Company B, in the Tenth Regiment Illinois Cavalry in the war of 1861, and was honorable discharged on the 22nd day of October in the year 1865. His personal description is as follows: Age 31 years, height, Five Feet 10 inches, complexion Fair, Hair Dark, eyes, Hazle. Since leaving the service siad applicant has resided at County of McLean and State of Illinois and his occupation has been Farming. His post office address is Atlanta, Logan County, Illinois.
